Last night as I was rubbing my sons head as he was falling off to sleep…I remembered my mom used to do the same thing. It was so soothing…
So, when you think to yourself “what have I accomplished today…”
When you dropped them off at school and kept yourself from weeping (until you got in the car of course), they learned strength.
When you were polite to a disgruntled stranger in the grocery store, they learned compassion.
When you looked them in the eyes while they told you about their day, they learned connection.
When you were frustrated you didn’t get a Pinterest project done but drew a dinosaur with a pencil and cut it out…and it was the best thing since PB&J, they learned to love the small things.
When you got out for that walk with them…picked some flowers (weeds) and put them behind your ear…they learned the importance of movement, fresh air and nature.
When you let them pick out their clothes (so hard sometimes) they learned individuality.
When you argued and decided to break the tension with a tickle monster…they learned laughter truly heals all things.
When you took that extra moment to rub their back at night…they learned LOVE. SAFETY. TIME.
And possibly something they will remember…and pass along to their children with a smile.
And you thought you got nothing accomplished today?! I beg to differ.
