Stop the madness! (This is my unapproving face.)
Why oh why, oh why do we do SO MUCH COMPARING!
I mean I wouldn’t even post this picture of me if I were looking at Instagram where it seems every woman has a professional photographer that follows them around in the perfect setting (what’s with that anyway?!).
- My eyes look crossed when I attempt a selfie.
- I have lines & wrinkles but refuse to use a filter that makes me look FAKE.
- There is a mess behind me cause…well some days I have focus issues. Don’t judge.
The truth is people, TAKE ALL THAT AWAY…TAKE AWAY SOCIAL MEDIA. What you are seeing, how “fast” others are finding success, how FAST they run, how fun their life seems, how PERFECT their pictures look…and you are left with YOUR REALITY.
And I bet your reality is pretty damn good. Am I right?! Seriously! It’s freaking good!
So, you say “easy for me to say because things are going well” but do you know how many FAILURES I stand upon daily to be where I am? And Lord knows I add to them daily.
Do you have ANY IDEA the depths I’ve been in to finally be at least paddling along on top of the water?Do you know that every day I have to WORK to push my mind past what I see around me and FOCUS solely on me so that I’m able to simply lay my head down at night feeling at peace?
STOP THE MADNESS…way too many women are drowning in a sea of comparison and it will be the death of you. I know, because I’ve lost my life jacket a few times and have been drug down by the sharks & it DIDNT FEEL GOOD.
I heard something this morning I’m going to quote “Confidence is built through PRIDE.” ~ Molly Haskins
So, here’s the good and bad news. It’s up to YOU to do something you are proud of to keep building your confidence and then don’t you DARE compare what you did to someone else.
Hell, I picked up the shoes on the floor of my closet and I’m like “YOU ARE A BOSS.” And other judging eyes would just laugh at that. Well, I don’t give a crap. And that’s what makes me special.
You are YOU for a reason and it’s time to start embracing it, celebrating it, and no longer comparing it to others!
This my friends is TRUE FREEDOM. And no, I’m not a coach, a “guru”, a leader, I’m RACHEL and it’s my calling to share my mistakes to stop you in your tracks from making the same.
Please please consider sharing with someone who is AMAZING and help them on their way to this FREEDOM! We must stick together in our efforts to fight Facebook depression (yes, sadly it’s a THING) and love on everyone, share the ups and downs and just support the journey!
